Easy! All it takes is a willing, welcoming person to explain a few of the basics at the beginning of each meeting. You will be amazed at how easy and relaxing the events can be.
We offer all the advertising handouts and posters that you need to get your first meeting started. These things will help you share about your event. You can download this step-by-step guide to getting a Creation Journaling group started at your church, including an announcement script and how to describe this event to church leadership when asking for permission to run it at your church.
We also provide handouts for the meet-ups themselves that you can print out, which include Bible passages, an interesting quote, and a general “how-to” explanation for nature journaling. We have suggested themes for each hand-out.
Our suggested time frame is 60-90 minutes. Our meetings take place on Saturdays at 9:30am. We have found that quarterly meet-ups work best in our community. People are busy, and this frequency has been just right. You may find something better works for your church, and that’s fine, too! We generally try to have one in each season, and our themes are related to the season. For example, we have focused on seashells during the summer, squash in the fall, houseplants during the winter, and early bulb plants like daffodils in the spring, to name a few.
All that said… you don’t have to plan to host more than one event. When we first started, we weren’t sure if it was going to be popular at all! We only planned one meeting a time, without overpromising or overwhelming ourselves.
