American churches tend to offer something for everyone. No matter what life stage you find yourself in, you will find a group “for you.” Much like my thoughts on age grouping, “life stage” grouping has both its positive and negative effects. I will restate my previous conclusion: We can most likely take a both/and approach, but when overuse impedes Biblical commands, then we have a problem. And it becomes a problem when people feel that they do not “belong” in a church because they are outside of their “group.” Our Creator is our uniting factor, not a life stage.
Which brings us to Creation Journaling! (Yes, there are other types of meetings that you could run- but this is the website for starting a Creation Journaling group, so that’s what I can tell you about.)
Creation Journaling is a group that meets to observe creation, wonder at the intricacies of its design, and acknowledge the great Designer behind it all. This is a worshipful event appropriate for marrieds, families, empty-nesters, youth, singles, seniors, divorced, widowed… Anyone can play a meaningful part in the discussion without feeling that they don’t belong. We are all God’s creations, and we are all meant to recognized him as the creator.
